Hello loyal blog reader. Are you still out there? I figured it was about time I cleared the dust off my blog and gave an update of sorts. Like what I have been doing since I got my tooth pulled.
I hurt my knee back in early March, which pretty much derailed the plans I had this year to run an ultramarathon. It was the last in a string of minor setbacks that have been interrupting my training since mid-November. I’m in physical therapy now, and have been for a few weeks, and things are definitely improving. I’m running again – early today I ran for 14 minutes broken up in 8 and 6 minute segments with a 5 minute walk in the middle. From here I’ll slowly be ramping things up.
While I’m bummed I won’t be able to try an ultra, and probably won’t end up doing any big races this year, I’m also starting to look forward to a break from all the regular training of years past. I’m looking forward to laying back a bit more, going on some hikes, exploring some new places. Pretty much the same thing I had hoped to accomplish training for and running ultras, except now it will be a little easier to stop and take photos, and enjoy the scenery.
